Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: This hadith is narrated in Bukhari Sharif from Abu Ayyub Ansari (radi Allahu anhu) in a marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) form, but in it, the mention is of one neck. In Musnad Ahmad, there is mention of four, and Imam Muslim has also clarified further that Amr ibn Maymun heard this hadith from Ibn Abi Layla, and Ibn Abi Layla from Abu Ayyub Ansari (radi Allahu anhu), and he from the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
