حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " قَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : 0 وَالْعَيْنُ بِالْعَيْنِ 0 " .
Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ red the verse: "eye for eye" (al-'aynu bil-'ayn).

Explanation:
1:
That is:
"al-'ayn" with a dammah (u-sound) on the letter noon,
while it is being coordinated (conjoined) to "al-nafs", which would require that the noon also be read with a fathah (a-sound).

A life for a life and an eye for an eye (al-Ma'idah: 45)

(In the chain of narration, Abu 'Ali ibn Yazid is a narrator whose status is unknown [majhool].)
