I see many people raising up thier hands during the brief pause, please is it a sunnah or an innovation
2 while the athan has immediately finished the iqamah (last call) before the takbir people also raise thier hands and make dua, is this also a sunnah Or not?
Question 1: Raising the hands to make duaa during the brief pause in the Friday khutbah.
It is
not from the Sunnah. It is an innovation.
During the Friday khutbah, the Sunnah is that the people
listen silently and
do not engage in duaa with raised hands, except
when the imam himself makes duaa for rain (Salat al-Istisqaa) during the khutbah. Only in that case did the companions raise their hands.
Evidence
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"When you say to your companion on Friday while the imam is preaching: be quiet, then you have engaged in idle speech."
Arabic:
«إذا قلت لصاحبك يوم الجمعة أنصت والإمام يخطب فقد لغوت»
Reference: Sahih Al Bukhari: 934
This proves the listener must not speak or perform actions that distract, and raising hands for independent duaa is not from the Sunnah.
The
only time raising hands was legislated during the khutbah is when the Prophet ﷺ made duaa for rain (istisqaa). The companions raised their hands
because the Prophet ﷺ raised his.
Outside of that, raising hands is an innovation.
Question 2: Raising the hands to make duaa immediately after the adhan of Jummah, before the takbeer of prayer.
This too is not Sunnah.
There is no report from the Prophet ﷺ nor the companions that they raised their hands to make duaa
specifically after the adhan of Jumuah before the iqamah or takbeer.
Yes,
it is recommended to make duaa between the two adhans (meaning: between adhan and iqamah), but
raising the hands was not legislated here.
