Witnessing the Birth of the Prophet ﷺ by the Mother of ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ

◈ The Reported Narrative


A narration claims that the mother of the Companion ʿUthmān ibn Abī al-ʿĀṣ رضي الله عنه was present at the time of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ. She reportedly said:


“When Āminah began experiencing labor pains, it seemed as though all the stars were descending toward the earth, to the extent that I feared they might fall to the ground.

And when the Prophet ﷺ was born, every direction I looked, the entire house was filled with light.”


◈ Ḥadīth Verification


This incident is mentioned in the works of:


Abu Nuʿaym
Ṭabarānī
al-Bayhaqī


However, the chain of transmission includes individuals unreliable in Hadith, namely:

◈ Weak Narrators Identified


Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad al-Zuhrī


He is unreliable and lacks credibility.


ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf


He was a storyteller and a liar, known for fabricating reports.


❀ Conclusion


Though emotionally moving, this narration is:


❌ Unsupported by reliable chains,
❌ Contains fabricators and weak transmitters, and
❌ Cannot be accepted as authentic evidence in the seerah of the Prophet ﷺ.
