Question:
What is the ruling on wiping the ears during wudu?
Answer:
Wiping the ears in wudu is legislated and recommended (mustaḥabb).
❀ Ḥāfiẓ al-Nawawī رحمه الله (d. 676H) said:
أجمعت الأمة على أن الأذنين تطهران.
“The Ummah is unanimous that the ears are also to be purified (by wiping) in wudu.”
(al-Majmūʿ: 1/416)
Conclusion:There is consensus that wiping the ears is part of wudu and is a recommended Sunnah practice.
