Will the jinn also enter Paradise and Hell?
The consensus belief (Ijma') of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah is that the jinn will also enter Paradise or Hell based on their deeds.
They are accountable to the religion of Islam, and among them are believers and disbelievers, as well as righteous and wicked individuals.
◈ Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi (544–606 AH) wrote:
“The scholars are unanimously agreed that the jinn are accountable (Mukallaf).”
[Tafsir al-Razi: 28/28]
Hence, as they are accountable, it is evident that they too will enter either Paradise or Hell.
◈ Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (661–728 AH) said:
“The disbelieving jinn will enter Hell according to the texts and the consensus, and as for the believing jinn, the majority of scholars say they will enter Paradise.”
[Al-Furqan bayna Awliya’ al-Rahman wa Awliya’ al-Shaytan: 196]
❖ Sūrat al-Aḥqāf [46:31]
"O our people! Respond to the Caller of Allah and believe in Him. He will forgive your sins and protect you from a painful punishment."
→ This verse clearly indicates that whoever responds to the call of the Prophet ﷺ and believes in him will be forgiven and saved from punishment. Conversely, those who do not respond will not be forgiven nor saved.
❖ Sūrat Hūd [11:119]
"I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
❖ Sūrat al-Sajda [32:13]
"But My Word will come true: I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
❖ Sūrat al-A‘rāf [7:38]
"Enter the Fire among nations who passed away before you of jinn and men."
❖ Sūrat al-A‘rāf [7:179]
"Indeed, We have created for Hell many of the jinn and men."
These verses establish that disbelievers and sinners among the jinn will be cast into Hell.
❖ Sūrat al-Raḥmān [55:46]
"And for he who fears standing before his Lord, there are two Gardens."
"So which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?"
→ The address "you both" refers to humans and jinn, showing that both can receive Paradise as a reward.
If someone questions:
“Jinn are created from fire, so how can fire burn them?”
The answer is:
The fire of Hell is extremely intense and severe. Just as iron cuts iron, the Hellfire will burn even those created from fire, including the jinn.
✔ Conclusion:
① Jinn are accountable like humans.
② Believing jinn will enter Paradise.
③ Disbelieving and sinful jinn will enter Hell.
④ This is supported by Qur’anic evidence, scholarly consensus, and sound reasoning.
