A man claims that after the Resurrection, even if both husband and wife enter Paradise, they will not remain together but will live separately. According to him, a worldly wife will not meet her worldly husband in Paradise, and even the wives of the Prophet ﷺ will not be with him there.
He further asserts that believing a wife will meet her husband in Paradise—or that the Prophet’s ﷺ wives will meet him there—amounts to rejecting certain Qur’ānic verses, citing:
Sūrah al-Baqarah: 200, 202, 286
Sūrah Āl ‘Imrān: 25, 30, 195
Sūrah al-Nisā’: 32, 124
Sūrah Ibrāhīm: 51
Sūrah al-Naḥl: 97
Sūrah al-Mu’min: 40
Sūrah al-Ṣāffāt: 49
Sūrah al-Raḥmān: 56
Sūrah al-Wāqi‘ah: 36
and others.
He claims these verses prove that wives will not remain with their husbands, and that Paradise will have women untouched by man. He further argues that if a wife’s deeds exceed her husband’s, what benefit would she get from him, and would accepting otherwise not contradict these verses?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh. Ammā ba‘d:
The verses cited do not contain any statement that husbands and wives will be separated in Paradise.
You may ask such a person to present just one verse, with its text and translation, explicitly proving his claim.
Allāh says:
﴿ادخُلُوا الجَنَّةَ أَنتُم وَأَزوٰجُكُم تُحبَرونَ﴾
“Enter Paradise, you and your spouses, in happiness.”
(Sūrah al-Zukhruf: 70)
Tafsīr al-Jalālayn:
(Wa-azwājukum) – means “your wives” if the addressees are men, and “your husbands” if the addressees are women.
This verse clearly proves that the marital bond will continue in Paradise.
The verses describing women untouched by man or jinn have two explanations:
① They are Ḥūr al-‘Īn, created for the people of Paradise.
Proof: Sūrah al-Raḥmān, verses 72–74.
② They are the women of this world, resurrected in the most perfect form.
Proof: Imām al-Sha‘bī رحمه الله said:
“They are women of the world, whom Allāh will recreate in another (better) form.”
(al-Ba‘th wa-al-Nushūr by al-Bayhaqī, p. 378, authentic chain)
A woman will be with her last husband:
Imām Abū Ya‘lā al-Mawṣilī رحمه الله narrated:
"المراة لآخر أزواجها" – “A woman will be with her last husband.”
References:
al-Maṭālib al-‘Āliyah: 1731 – chain ḥasan;
Ittiḥāf al-Khiyarat al-Mahrah by al-Būṣayrī;
al-Silsilah al-Ṣaḥīḥah by al-Albānī: 3/275, no. 1281.
Example: Umm al-Dardā’ refused a marriage proposal from Mu‘āwiyah رضي الله عنه, saying:
“I do not wish for anyone other than Abū al-Dardā’, because the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: ‘A woman will be with her last husband.’”
Status of the Narrators:
This narration is ḥasan li-dhātih, proving that believing women will be with their believing husbands in Paradise.
The Prophet ﷺ said to ‘Ā’ishah رضي الله عنها:
"فأنت زوجتي في الدنيا والآخرة" – “You are my wife in this world and the Hereafter.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Iḥsān: 7053 [7095], authentic chain; al-Mustadrak by al-Ḥākim: 4/10, no. 6729, approved by al-Dhahabī)
Likewise, Jibrīl عليه السلام brought her image and said:
"هذه زوجتك في الدنيا والآخرة" – “This is your wife in this world and the Hereafter.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ Ibn Ḥibbān, al-Iḥsān: 7052 [7094], ḥasan chain)
‘Ammār ibn Yāsir رضي الله عنه said:
“I know she is his wife in this world and the Hereafter.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 3772)
Anyone claiming that the Prophet’s ﷺ wives will not be with him in Paradise is gravely misguided, a heretic, and an enemy of the religion. Since the Mothers of the Believers cannot be wives to any other man, such denial is disbelief and an affront to the Messenger ﷺ.
Disbelievers, apostates, and hypocrites in every age attack the fundamentals of Islam—
◈ Denying the creation of Ādam and Ḥawwā’
◈ Promoting Darwin’s theory of evolution
◈ Denying that the Prophet’s ﷺ wives will be with him in Paradise
Muslims must respond with knowledge and evidence.
Example: When someone objected to a ḥadīth, Caliph Hārūn al-Rashīd رحمه الله said:
“Some heretic has taught him this speech.”
(Tārīkh Baghdād: 5/244; al-Ma‘rifah wa-al-Tārīkh: 2/181–182)
Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
“Whoever has the knowledge to debate the heretics and innovators but does not cut them off, has not fulfilled the right of Islam… His speech will neither heal hearts nor bring certainty.”
(Dar’ Ta‘āruḍ al-‘Aql wa-al-Naql, Vol. 1, p. 357)
① Qur’ān and Sunnah prove that believing husbands and wives will be together in Paradise.
② The Mothers of the Believers will be with the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise.
③ Denial of this is heresy and deviation.
④ Muslims must defend the religion from such false claims.

Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh. Ammā ba‘d:
The verses cited do not contain any statement that husbands and wives will be separated in Paradise.
You may ask such a person to present just one verse, with its text and translation, explicitly proving his claim.
Qur’ānic Proof That Husband and Wife Will Be Together
Meaning of “Untouched Women” in the Qur’ān
The verses describing women untouched by man or jinn have two explanations:
① They are Ḥūr al-‘Īn, created for the people of Paradise.
Proof: Sūrah al-Raḥmān, verses 72–74.
② They are the women of this world, resurrected in the most perfect form.
Proof: Imām al-Sha‘bī رحمه الله said:
“They are women of the world, whom Allāh will recreate in another (better) form.”
(al-Ba‘th wa-al-Nushūr by al-Bayhaqī, p. 378, authentic chain)
Ḥadīth Evidence
A woman will be with her last husband:
Imām Abū Ya‘lā al-Mawṣilī رحمه الله narrated:
"المراة لآخر أزواجها" – “A woman will be with her last husband.”
References:
al-Maṭālib al-‘Āliyah: 1731 – chain ḥasan;
Ittiḥāf al-Khiyarat al-Mahrah by al-Būṣayrī;
al-Silsilah al-Ṣaḥīḥah by al-Albānī: 3/275, no.
- Ismā‘īl ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-Qurashī – thiqah, truthful, precise.
- Abū al-Malīḥ al-Raqqī – thiqah.
- Maymūn ibn Mihrān al-Jazarī – thiqah, jurist.
This narration is ḥasan li-dhātih, proving that believing women will be with their believing husbands in Paradise.
The Prophet’s ﷺ Wives in Paradise
Ruling on One Who Denies This
Anyone claiming that the Prophet’s ﷺ wives will not be with him in Paradise is gravely misguided, a heretic, and an enemy of the religion. Since the Mothers of the Believers cannot be wives to any other man, such denial is disbelief and an affront to the Messenger ﷺ.
Important Warning
Disbelievers, apostates, and hypocrites in every age attack the fundamentals of Islam—
◈ Denying the creation of Ādam and Ḥawwā’
◈ Promoting Darwin’s theory of evolution
◈ Denying that the Prophet’s ﷺ wives will be with him in Paradise
Muslims must respond with knowledge and evidence.
Example: When someone objected to a ḥadīth, Caliph Hārūn al-Rashīd رحمه الله said:

Summary of Findings
① Qur’ān and Sunnah prove that believing husbands and wives will be together in Paradise.
② The Mothers of the Believers will be with the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise.
