Allah’s Love and the Consequences of Human Actions
By: Muhammad Saleem
Atheists frequently raise the question:
“If God loves His servants more than seventy mothers, then why would He throw them into Hell — and that too, for eternity?”
This worldly life is a gift from Allah ﷻ. Whether a person is rich or poor, healthy or sick — it is by the will of Allah.
Humans accept Allah’s decisions in worldly matters. However, in the Hereafter, Paradise or Hell is not decided arbitrarily — it is determined by one’s own actions.
Allah simply enforces the outcome based on what the person has chosen for themselves.
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
"وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ..."
(Surah Al-Baqarah: 34–37)
Translation (summary):
When Allah commanded the angels to prostrate to Ādam (عليه السلام), they all complied except Iblīs. He refused and was arrogant. Ādam and his wife were allowed to live in Paradise, with the exception of one tree. But they were deceived by Shayṭān and consequently sent down to earth. Ādam (عليه السلام) repented and Allah forgave him, for He is the Most Forgiving and Merciful.
① The Arrogance of Iblīs:
Iblīs disobeyed and, instead of acknowledging his mistake, blamed Allah, saying that he only sinned because Allah willed it. This is arrogance.
② The Repentance of Ādam (عليه السلام):
He accepted his mistake and sought forgiveness — this is repentance (tawbah).
➤ Lesson:
The only difference was in their attitudes. One gained Allah’s mercy through humility, the other lost it due to pride.
Today, Shayṭān misleads people in a similar way, whispering:
Believers do not fall into this trap.
They acknowledge their sins, regret them, and seek repentance.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“O son of Ādam, as long as you call upon Me and place your hope in Me, I will forgive you no matter what your sins are. If your sins reach the clouds of the sky, yet you seek My forgiveness, I will forgive you. And if you come to Me with sins as great as the earth but do not associate anything with Me, I will meet you with equal forgiveness.”
(Tirmidhī)
✔ Going to Hell is not due to sin itself, but due to persistence in sin and arrogance.
✔ Those who enter Paradise are those who sin and then repent.
① Kufr (Disbelief): Denial of Allah’s authority and commands.
② Shirk (Polytheism): Associating partners with Allah.
Kufr is not just denying God’s existence; it is rejecting His commands and authority.
Many atheists hate God due to personal loss or suffering — much like Shayṭān.
Allah ﷻ does not wrong anyone.
If someone ends up in Hell due to kufr or shirk, it is by their own choice, not Allah’s injustice.
Most atheists do not truly disbelieve in God. Rather, they harbor hatred due to some hardship or trial.
They blame God after a calamity and then encourage others to deny Him too.
Even after being proven wrong logically, many atheists still refuse to believe — not due to lack of reason, but due to stubbornness.
✔ Divine Love: Allah loves His servants more than seventy mothers — but this love is reserved for those who spread goodness, not evil.
✔ Gratitude and Patience:
Be thankful for the blessings of Allah.
Be patient during trials and deprivations.
This is the path to Paradise.
❖ Allah’s love does not contradict His justice.
❖ Entry into Hell is due to arrogant rebellion, not simply sin.
❖ Tawbah (repentance) is always open — and Allah is always ready to forgive.
❖ Denial of God is often rooted in emotional rebellion, not intellectual reasoning.
❖ Heaven is earned by repentance, submission, and gratitude — not perfection.

Background of the Question
Atheists frequently raise the question:
“If God loves His servants more than seventy mothers, then why would He throw them into Hell — and that too, for eternity?”
Answer: Divine Judgment and Human Responsibility
Life is a Gift from Allah
This worldly life is a gift from Allah ﷻ. Whether a person is rich or poor, healthy or sick — it is by the will of Allah.
Humans accept Allah’s decisions in worldly matters. However, in the Hereafter, Paradise or Hell is not decided arbitrarily — it is determined by one’s own actions.
Allah simply enforces the outcome based on what the person has chosen for themselves.
Clarification from the Beginning of Humanity
The Story of Iblīs and Prophet Ādam (عليه السلام)
Two Types of Responses
① The Arrogance of Iblīs:
Iblīs disobeyed and, instead of acknowledging his mistake, blamed Allah, saying that he only sinned because Allah willed it. This is arrogance.
② The Repentance of Ādam (عليه السلام):
He accepted his mistake and sought forgiveness — this is repentance (tawbah).
➤ Lesson:
The only difference was in their attitudes. One gained Allah’s mercy through humility, the other lost it due to pride.
Atheists and Shayṭānic Whisperings
The Whispering of Shayṭān:
Today, Shayṭān misleads people in a similar way, whispering:
- “Your sins are not your fault — God made you do it.”
- “If God didn’t want it, you wouldn’t have sinned.”
The Approach of Believers:
Believers do not fall into this trap.
They acknowledge their sins, regret them, and seek repentance.
Prophetic Hadith
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“O son of Ādam, as long as you call upon Me and place your hope in Me, I will forgive you no matter what your sins are. If your sins reach the clouds of the sky, yet you seek My forgiveness, I will forgive you. And if you come to Me with sins as great as the earth but do not associate anything with Me, I will meet you with equal forgiveness.”
(Tirmidhī)
Conclusion
✔ Going to Hell is not due to sin itself, but due to persistence in sin and arrogance.
✔ Those who enter Paradise are those who sin and then repent.
Sin, Repentance, and Allah’s Mercy
Forgiveness of Sins:
- Man is by nature prone to sin — and Allah knows this better than anyone.
- Therefore, if one repents sincerely after sinning, Allah forgives them.
- However, those who blame Allah or persist arrogantly in disobedience are deserving of punishment.
Two Unforgivable Sins
① Kufr (Disbelief): Denial of Allah’s authority and commands.
② Shirk (Polytheism): Associating partners with Allah.
What is Kufr?
Kufr is not just denying God’s existence; it is rejecting His commands and authority.
Many atheists hate God due to personal loss or suffering — much like Shayṭān.
The Divine System of Justice
Worldly vs. Eternal Consequences:
- Worldly Punishment: Consequences like injury, loss, or death may still occur, even after repentance.
- Afterlife Forgiveness: Sincere repentance erases sins in the Hereafter — even if worldly effects remain.
Justice Demands:
Allah ﷻ does not wrong anyone.
If someone ends up in Hell due to kufr or shirk, it is by their own choice, not Allah’s injustice.
The Core of the Atheistic Dispute
Denial of God:
Most atheists do not truly disbelieve in God. Rather, they harbor hatred due to some hardship or trial.
Example:
They blame God after a calamity and then encourage others to deny Him too.
Rejection of Evidence:
Even after being proven wrong logically, many atheists still refuse to believe — not due to lack of reason, but due to stubbornness.
Allah’s Mercy and Guidance for His Servants
✔ Divine Love: Allah loves His servants more than seventy mothers — but this love is reserved for those who spread goodness, not evil.
✔ Gratitude and Patience:
Be thankful for the blessings of Allah.
Be patient during trials and deprivations.
This is the path to Paradise.
Summary
❖ Allah’s love does not contradict His justice.
❖ Entry into Hell is due to arrogant rebellion, not simply sin.
❖ Tawbah (repentance) is always open — and Allah is always ready to forgive.
❖ Denial of God is often rooted in emotional rebellion, not intellectual reasoning.
❖ Heaven is earned by repentance, submission, and gratitude — not perfection.
