Who killed Sayyiduna ‘Ammar ibn Yasir رضي الله عنه?
Sayyiduna ‘Ammar ibn Yasir رضي الله عنه was martyred by Sayyiduna Abu Ghadīyah رضي الله عنه.

Some versions of the narration contain the wording:
إن قاتله، وسالبه فى النار
“The one who killed him and the one who took his belongings will be in the Fire.”
These words, however, are not authentic, because Abu Hafs and Kulthum ibn Jabr did not hear directly from Sayyiduna ‘Amr ibn al-‘As رضي الله عنه.
❀ Hafiz al-Dhahabi رحمه الله said:
إسناده فيه انقطاع
“Its chain contains a break (is munqati‘).”
(Siyar A‘lam al-Nubala, 2/544)
Other chains contain:
There is even a fabricated chain recorded in Tarikh Baghdad (3/255) containing:
① Abu Yahya ‘Amr ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar Yamami – unknown.
② His father ‘Abd al-Jabbar Yamami – not authenticated.
③ Hasan al-Basri narrating with ‘an‘anah.
The Battle of Siffin and the Battle of Jamal are among the disputes of the Companions (mushajarat al-sahabah). Both sides acted based on their understanding and ijtihad. For this reason, none of them is to be criticized or condemned.
The path of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah is to remain silent regarding the disputes of the Companions, to refrain from maligning any of them, and to supplicate for their forgiveness. This is the path of safety and salvation.
