Which type of Ḥajj did the Prophet ﷺ perform during his blessed life, and what is it called?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Ḥajj Qirān in his lifetime.
In Ḥajj Qirān:
◈ Both ʿUmrah and Ḥajj are performed in the same journey under a single iḥrām.
◈ Sacrifice (hady) is obligatory.
The Prophet ﷺ, after completing ʿUmrah, did not remove his iḥrām. Regarding this, he said:
«لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ اَمْرِیْ مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا اَهْدَيْتُ»
— (Bukhārī, Kitāb al-ʿUmrah, Bāb ʿUmrat al-Tanʿīm)
"If I had known earlier what I came to know later (that ʿUmrah during the months of Ḥajj is permissible), I would not have brought the sacrificial animals (and I would have performed Tamattuʿ instead)."
He ﷺ also said:
«إِنِّی لَبَّدْتُّ رَاسِی وَقَلَّدتُّ هَدْيِی»
"I have applied paste to my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animals."
These words clearly prove that the Prophet ﷺ performed Ḥajj Qirān, because:
◈ He brought the sacrificial animals with him, and
◈ He did not remove the iḥrām between ʿUmrah and Ḥajj.
