The longest recitation is prescribed and Sunnah in the Fajr prayer.



❖ Evidence from Ḥadīth​


Abū Barzah al-Aslamī (RA) reported:
((يقرأ فيها ما بين الستين إلى المائة))
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite between sixty and one hundred verses in Fajr prayer.”
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 541, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 461



❖ Scholarly Consensus​


ʿAllāmah Ibn al-ʿArabī (d. 543H):
((اتفق العلماء على أن أطول الصلاة قراءة الفجر))
“The scholars are unanimously agreed that the prayer with the longest recitation is Fajr.”
al-Masālik fī Sharḥ Muwaṭṭaʾ Mālik 2/352
