Once wealth reaches the level of nisab, when does Zakat become obligatory?
❖ Answer
When wealth reaches the nisab, Zakat becomes obligatory after the completion of one lunar year.
❀ ʿAllamah Ibn al-ʿArabi (رحمه الله, 543H) said:
لا خلاف بين المسلمين أنه لا يجب فى مال زكاة حتى يحول عليه الحول.
“There is no difference among the Muslims that Zakat does not become obligatory on wealth until a year has passed over it.”
