What should I do if a morsel of food falls down? And does Satan eat with the right hand?
Sayyidunā Jābir (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Noble Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
“When one of you drops a morsel, he should pick it up, remove any dirt on it, and eat it. He should not leave it for Satan. And he should not wipe his hand with a cloth until he has licked his fingers, for he does not know in which part of the food the blessing lies.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Hadith No. 2033]
In another narration:
“Indeed, Satan is present with one of you in all of his affairs, even at his food. So if a morsel falls from one of you, he should remove the dirt from it and eat it, and not leave it for Satan.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Hadith No. 2033]
It is also narrated from Sayyidunā Jābir (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
“Do not eat with the left hand, for Satan eats and drinks with his left hand.”
[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Hadith No. 2019]
