Hadith on an Alternative Recitation for Those Who Cannot Read the Qur’an
It is narrated from Ibn Abi Awfa (رضي الله عنهما) that:
A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:
“O Messenger of Allah! Teach me something that will suffice me in place of the Qur’an.”
The Prophet (ﷺ) replied:
"Say: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar." (Glory be to Allah, all praise is due to Allah, there is no deity except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.
This narration is recorded by Ibn Jarud in Al-Muntaqa.

Another version includes an additional phrase:
"Wa La Hawla Wa La Quwwata Illa Billah" (There is no power and no strength except with Allah.)
