What is the ruling on disrespecting the Quran and the mosque?

Question:

A person had a dispute, the judge asked him to swear on the Quran in the mosque, so he said that he does not consider the Quran and the mosque to be anything, will he become an apostate?

Answer:

This statement is an act of disbelief, as it has belittled the Quran and the mosque. If he does not repent from this and remains steadfast in his statement even after inquiry, then he is a disbeliever and an apostate, and his punishment is death, which is the responsibility of the Islamic state. He will be completely boycotted, and his marriage will be annulled.
