It is likely that the questioner means the Sadaqat al-Fitr of Ramadan, which is one Sa' of the common food of the people of the city or region. Whether it is rice, wheat, dates, or any other grain, this Sadaqat is to be paid on behalf of every Muslim individual, whether male or female, free or slave, young or old, as is established from the authentic hadiths of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. This Sadaqat must be paid before heading to the Eid prayer, and if it is paid one or two days before Eid, there is no harm in that. In terms of weight, its amount is approximately three kilograms.
