Question:
I would like to ask about the expiation (Kaffarah) for masturbation (Istimna) during the day in Ramadan. Although I know it is forbidden, does it have a specific Kaffarah? If so, please clarify it for me. May Allah bless you.
Answer:
Masturbation is prohibited (Haram) both in Ramadan and outside of it. It is a sinful act, and if Allah does not forgive, the person will be held accountable.
What Should Be Done?
Sincere Repentance (Tawbah):
- One must repent to Allah with sincerity, seeking His forgiveness.
Increase in Righteous Deeds:
- Perform good actions, as they erase bad deeds.
Control Desires & Avoid Temptations:
- One must strive to restrain from forbidden desires and keep away from anything that leads to sin.
Make Up the Invalidated Fast (Qada):
- Since this act nullifies the fast, one must make up for that missed fast after Ramadan.
Since this sin was committed during Ramadan, its gravity increases. Therefore, the individual should repent sincerely, engage in acts of obedience, and draw closer to Allah.
Allah is the Most Forgiving and Accepts Repentance.
