What expiation is required for a husband who has sexual relations with his fasting wife?
Question:.
A person was traveling and had the concession to break his fast due to travel. He had sexual relations with his fasting wife. Will there be any expiation for this act, and how will the woman atone for this sin despite being compelled by her husband to commit this act?
Fatwa:.
In my opinion, there is no expiation required for this person, because when he was in a state of travel, it was permissible for him to break his fast. Therefore, since it was permissible for him to eat during the day, it was also permissible for him to have sexual relations with his wife. And if the woman was fasting, it was also permissible for her to break her fast while traveling, especially in this case where she was compelled by her husband, so she bears no sin or expiation in this regard.
