Answer:
It has been narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (RA), who reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Whenever a servant is afflicted with any distress or grief, he should recite the following supplication:
« اللهم إني عبدك، وابن أمتك، ناصيتي بيدك، ماض فى حكمك، عدل فى قضاؤك، أسألك بكل اسم هو لك، سميت به نفسك أو علمته أحدا من خلقك أو أنزلته فى كتابك، أو استأثرت به فى علم الغيب عندك، أن تجعل القرآن ربيع قلبي، ونور صدري وجلاء حزني، وذهاب همي، إلا أذهب الله همه وحزنه وأبدله مكانه فرجا »
"O Allah! I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is executed, and Your decree upon me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, which You have named Yourself with, or which You revealed in Your Book, or which You taught to any of Your creation, or which You have kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sorrow, and the dispeller of my anxiety."
(Sahih, Musnad Ahmad 391/1, Musnad Abi Ya'la 198/9, Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith No. 972, Mustadrak al-Hakim 509/1)
By reciting this supplication, Allah (SWT) removes the person's grief and anxiety and, in return, grants them relief and ease.
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (RA):
«من كثر همومه وغمومه، فليكثر من قول: لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله »
"Whoever's worries and anxieties are numerous, he should frequently say: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no power and no strength except with Allah)."
It is reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim:« أنها كنز من كنوز الجنة»"It is a treasure from the treasures of Jannah."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 6409, Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 2704)
