Question:
What does Shaytan do when the Adhan is called?
Answer:
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) reported that indeed the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"When the Adhan is called for the prayer, Shaytan turns and flees, expelling wind, so that he does not hear the call. When the Adhan is finished, he returns. Then when the Iqamah is pronounced, he turns and flees again. After the Iqamah is completed, he returns and begins whispering into the heart of a person, saying: 'Remember this, remember that'—mentioning things the person had not recalled before—until the person ends up not knowing how many units of prayer he has offered."
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 608]
