The jinn favor the following areas within homes:
① Toilets and washrooms
② Places where music and entertainment take place
③ Areas displaying pictures and images
For this reason, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught us specific etiquettes and supplications. As narrated in the ḥadīth of Sayyidunā Anas (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu), whenever the Prophet ﷺ entered the toilet, he would recite the following duʿā:
"اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ"
“O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the male and female evil jinn.”
This duʿā serves as protection against the harm of the jinn, particularly in their preferred dwellings.
