وَالْجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ السَّمُومِ
"And the jinn We created before from scorching fire."
[Al-Hijr: 27]
This indicates that jinn were created before human beings, and they were created from “Naar as-Samoom” (a scorching fire).
The term "Samoom" refers to an intensely hot wind that can be lethal. Some scholars explain it as the hot wind that blows either during the day or night. Others specify that the night's hot wind is called "Samoom", while the day's hot wind is termed "Haroor".
