Ruling on the Narration of Sayyidah Maymunah (RA) Regarding Bayt al-Maqdis

In the narration of Sayyidah Maymunah bint Sa‘d (RA), it is mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ said regarding Bayt al-Maqdis:


“Go there and offer prayer, and if you cannot go, then send oil to be used in its lamps.”
[Sunan Abī Dāwūd: 457, Sunan Ibn Mājah: 1407]

Answer:


This narration is weak (ḍa‘īf). The following hadith scholars have declared it to be weak:

Shaykh al-Albānī graded this narration as weak.


Ḥāfiẓ Zubair ‘Alī Za‘ī (raḥimahullāh):


Ḥāfiẓ Zubair ‘Alī Za‘ī also considered this narration to be weak.
