Bribery and other sins lead to a weakening of faith, incite the wrath of the Lord, and empower Satan over the individual, making it easier for him to drag the person into further sins.
Therefore, it becomes obligatory upon every Muslim man and woman to refrain from bribery and all forms of sin. If possible, the bribe should be returned to the one from whom it was taken. If returning it is not feasible, then one must give sincere repentance, and as a substitute for that amount, give charity on behalf of that person to the poor—hoping that Allah ﷻ may show mercy.
