Ways to Attain Nearness to Allah
✍ تحrīr: Qārī Usāmah bin ‘Abd al-Salām
Attaining nearness to Allah is the highest and most sacred goal of every human life. For women as well, the paths to attain the closeness of Allah are open — in fact, at times, the trials, sacrifices, and sincerity of a woman can draw her even closer to her Lord.
Below are the comprehensive ways through which a woman can attain the nearness of Allah:
① Sincerity and Purity of Intention
Every action must be purely for Allah. Whether it is household chores, raising children, or acts of worship — if done for the pleasure of Allah, they become acts of worship.
"وما أمروا إلا لیعبدوا الله مخلصين له الدين”
(البينة: 5)
"And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, making the religion purely His."
② Observance of Prayer
The five daily prayers are obligatory upon women just as they are upon men. If a woman performs them with gentleness, humility, and submission, it brings her close to Allah.
"أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي”
(طٰهٰ: 14)
"Establish the prayer for My remembrance."
③ Modesty and Chastity
In Islam, a woman’s modesty is her greatest beauty. If she adopts modesty in her gaze, speech, clothing, and behavior, she becomes very close to Allah.
④ Connection with the Qur’an
Reciting the Qur’an daily, understanding its meanings, and acting upon it grants a woman peace of heart and strengthens her bond with Allah.
⑤ Service to Creation and Good Conduct
Kindness towards parents, husband, children, in-laws, and neighbors is highly beloved to Allah.
"The best woman is the one who pleases her husband, nurtures her children, and keeps the fear of Allah in her heart."
⑥ Connection with Supplications and Dhikr
Engaging in the remembrance of Allah, reciting tasbīḥ, and making heartfelt supplications all bring a woman closer to her Lord.
- سبحان اللہ وبحمدہ، سبحان اللہ العظیم
- لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له
- يا حي يا قيوم برحمتك أستغيث
⑦ Wealth of Patience and Gratitude
A woman faces many trials in life — the attitude of her husband, issues with children, financial struggles — but the woman who exercises patience and expresses gratitude becomes beloved to Allah.
"إن الله مع الصابرين”
(البقرۃ: 153)
"Indeed, Allah is with those who are patient."
⑧ Nightly Connection with Allah in Solitude
When all are asleep, and a woman weeps before her Lord in solitude, falls into prostration, and says:
"O Allah! I desire only Your pleasure"
— then the heavens and the earth bear witness that she is near to her Lord.
