❖ Question

What is your view regarding the Vision of Allah (Didar-e-Ilahi)?

❖ Answer

Allah ﷻ will grant His believing servants the blessing of seeing Him on the Day of Judgment. This is the greatest objective and a magnificent favor. The Qur’an, authentic Sunnah, and the consensus (ijma‘) of the believers are proofs for this. The Mu‘attilah Jahmiyyah, Mu‘tazilah, Khawarij, and Imamiyyah Shia deny it.

❀ ʿAllamah Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله, 751H) said:

هي الغاية التى شمر إليها المشمرون وتنافس فيها المتنافسون وتسابق إليها المتسابقون ولمثلها فليعمل العاملون...

“This is the ultimate goal for which the devoted strive, in which the competitors compete, and towards which the foremost race. For this should the doers of good work. When the people of Paradise attain it, they will forget all the other blessings they are enjoying. For the people of Hell, being deprived of it and veiled from it will be more severe than the torment of Hell itself. The Prophets, Messengers, all the Companions, the Tabi‘un, and the Imams of Islam in every generation agreed upon it. Its denial came from the deviant sects: the apostate innovators, the bewildered Jahmiyyah, the Fir‘auni Mu‘tazilah, the Batiniyyah who abandoned all religions, and the Rafidah who cling to the rope of Satan while severing the rope of Allah. They revile the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, show enmity to the Sunnah and its adherents, and befriend the enemies of Allah, His Messenger, and His religion. All these will be deprived of the Vision of Allah, rejected from His door. They are the parties of misguidance, the allies of the accursed (Satan), and the enemies of the Messenger.”
(Hadi al-Arwah, p. 285)

❀ He also said:

“The Qur’an, the mutawatir Sunnah, the consensus of the Companions, the Imams of Islam, and the people of Hadith — the true group of Islam, the carriers of faith, and the closest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — all affirm that Allah, Glorified and Exalted, will be seen with the eyes directly on the Day of Resurrection.”
