Virtue of the Seven Under Allah's Shade Applies to Women Too

❀ The Hadith of Seven Under the Shade of Allah Is Not Exclusive to Men ❀
This fatwa is taken from the book “500 Questions and Answers for Women,” based on the rulings of the scholars of the Ḥaramayn and translated by Ḥāfiẓ ʿAbdullāh Salīm.

❖ Question:

The hadith mentions seven types of people whom Allah will shade under His shade on the Day when there will be no other shade. Is this hadith specific to men, or can women who perform similar deeds also receive this reward?

❖ Answer:

The hadith in question is not limited to men; rather, its reward applies to both men and women alike—based on the shared capacity of performing the righteous deeds mentioned therein.

For example:

◈ A young girl who grows up in the worship of Allah from a young age is equally deserving of this honor.

◈ Two women who love each other for the sake of Allah, meet upon that love and part upon it, also fall under this virtue.

◈ A woman who is invited to sin by a handsome and high-status man, but she declines saying, "Indeed, I fear Allah," is included among those seven.

◈ A woman who gives charity with such secrecy from her pure earnings that her left hand does not know what her right hand has spent—she too is worthy of this divine reward.

◈ Likewise, a woman who remembers Allah in seclusion and her eyes well up with tears due to that remembrance is also entitled to this merit, just like men.

As for leadership (i.e., a just ruler), this is generally specific to men. Similarly, praying in congregation at the mosque is also a practice more emphasized for men. For women, praying in their homes is more virtuous, as established from several authentic hadiths of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
