Using Interest-based Earnings Taken from the Bank
Interest-based earnings are unlawful wealth. Allah (ﷻ) says:
«وَأَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا» [البقرة: 275]
“Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest (usury).”
If anyone comes into possession of such wealth, he must rid himself of it by using it in public welfare works for Muslims, such as building roads or schools, or giving it to the poor. However, it should not be used for building mosques. It is not permissible for a person to actively seek or continuously accept such interest-based earnings.
