هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا
(“It is He who created for you all that is on the earth.”)
(Surah Al-Baqarah: 29)
This verse indicates that all lawful benefits from what is on the earth are permissible, provided they are not used for prohibited purposes.
Regarding the use of food items like egg, honey, and milk for beauty treatments, it is preferable and better to use alternative products specifically designed for such purposes. These are widely available and can achieve the same goals without involving food items.
Additionally, it is important to note that while there is no harm in pursuing beauty, extravagance or excessive focus on beautification is discouraged. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) indeed loves beauty, as the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ
(“Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.”)
However, when beautification becomes a person’s primary concern at the expense of significant religious or worldly matters, it leads to wastefulness (israf), which Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) dislikes. Such practices are not suitable and should be avoided.
Question
Some of my friends use egg, honey, and milk to treat blemishes and spots on their face. Is it permissible for them to do so?Answer
It is well-known that food items such as egg, honey, and milk, which Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) has created as sustenance for the body, can be used for other lawful purposes, including treatment, if necessary. This is permissible as long as the items are not impure (najis) or prohibited (haram). Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) states in the Quran:هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا
(“It is He who created for you all that is on the earth.”)
