Understanding and Resolving the Complexity of Dreams or Unusual Dreams

The Complexity of Dreams and Their Interpretation:

Imam Al-Manawi (رحمہ اللہ) explains in his commentary on “Alfiyyah Ibn Al-Wardi” that:
  1. If a dream is clear from beginning to end, interpreting it becomes straightforward. However, if parts of the dream are understandable while other parts remain ambiguous, then only the clear segments should be interpreted, and the unclear portions should be set aside temporarily. Once the unclear sections become comprehensible, they can be revisited for further interpretation.
  2. When different components of a dream are deciphered, the interpreter should seek guidance by analyzing how these segments are interconnected. This requires delving deeper into the dream to derive a coherent interpretation based on the relationships among its various parts.
  3. If the dream is extremely peculiar or unprecedented, meaning it presents a scenario that has never been encountered before, the interpreter should avoid hastily drawing conclusions. Instead, they should adopt a cautious approach and wait until the outcomes or events related to the dream become clearer.

Mastering the Art of Dream Interpretation:

To excel in the science of dream interpretation, the following guidelines are essential:

① The interpreter should thoroughly understand the principles and rules of interpretation.
② Interpretations should be derived in light of Quran and Sunnah, as well as by examining names, symbols, and other relevant elements present in the dream.
③ The interpreter should consider various angles and perspectives, combining these foundational elements to extract a clear and meaningful interpretation.

With the guidance of Allah (سبحانه و تعالى), we now commence the compilation of a dictionary for dream interpretation, aimed at providing structured insights into the meanings of various dreams.
