◈ ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd رضي الله عنه said:
حافظوا على أبناء كم فى الصلوة تم تعودوا الخير فإنما الخير بالعادة.
Al-Bayhaqī, Vol. 3, p. 84
“Guard your children with respect to prayer, and accustom them to good. Indeed, goodness comes by way of habit.”
◈ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
مروا أولادكم بالصلوة وهم أبناء سبع سنين
Abū Dāwūd, Kitāb al-Ṣalāh, Bāb Matā Yuʾmar al-Ghulām bi al-Ṣalāh: 495; al-Mustadrak al-Ḥākim: 734
“Command your children to perform ṣalāh when they reach seven years of age.”
① It is a religious duty for parents to train their children in ṣalāh from a young age.
② Habitual righteousness begins with early discipline, especially in prayer.
③ The age of seven is the starting point for issuing commands regarding prayer.
④ These teachings are based on the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ and the practice of the Companions.
❖ Parents Should Command Their Children to Perform Ṣalāh (Prayer)
