The rapidly spreading germs of "modernism and moderation" in society are engulfing innocent people so quickly that my pen fails to keep up with them. Their great objective is to mold all aspects of life according to their own thoughts, ideas, and ideologies. Even Islamic Shariah has not remained safe from these ideological efforts.
Those who chant the mantra of modernism also consider it part of their struggle to mold the religion of Muhammad (peace be upon him) into their self-made ideology. In this endeavor, they find many scholars and intellectuals on loan, as the objective of such thinkers is to make a name among the martyrs. These individuals are hungry for fame and greedy for wealth and possessions.
In accordance with the saying "Go where the wind blows," these people speak the language of the times and attempt to present the misdeeds of their elders as "good deeds" under the pretext of "الْدِّينُ يُسْرٌ" (The religion is easy). They write and speak in favor of the permissibility of un-Islamic matters such as music, musical instruments, mixed gatherings of men and women, and painting.
Dear readers! It is very important to understand Islam in the way that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) explained it and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) understood it.
"فَإِنْ آمَنُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْا"
"Then if they believe as you (companions) believe, they are indeed on the right path."
[2-Al-Baqarah: 137]
Relying on one's own intellect, understanding, and dictionaries to interpret religion as per one's will is misguidance. Some individuals, dressed in three-piece suits, clean-shaven, and participating in mixed gatherings and functions, exhibit shamelessness and obscenity. They boldly cite "لَا إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ" (There is no compulsion in religion)
[2-Al-Baqarah: 256]
or "الدين يسر" (The religion is easy)
[Bukhari: 39]
to justify their theft, although the Quran and Hadith demand that by adhering to them, both this world and the hereafter be improved, not by distorting them and making incorrect interpretations to embellish un-Islamic matters.
"They do not change themselves; they change the Quran!"
"How unfortunate have the jurists of the sanctuary become!"
