How can I protect myself from Shaytan while praying?
Answer:
Recite the following supplication, and Allah Almighty will grant you protection. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mutʿim رضی اللہ عنہ that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say this in voluntary prayer:
『الله أكبر كبيرا ثلاث مرات، والحمد لله كثيرا ثلاث مرات، وسبحان الله بكرة وأصيلا ثلاث مرات، اللهم إني أعو بك من الشيطان الرجيم من همزه ونفثه ونفخه』
“Allah is the Greatest, the Most Great (three times). Praise be to Allah abundantly (three times). Glory be to Allah in the morning and evening (three times). O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the accursed Shaytan, from his madness, from his pride, and from his poetry.”
I said: “O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by his madness, pride, and poetry?” He صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم replied: “As for his madness, it is the seizure that overtakes the son of Adam. His pride is arrogance, and his poetry is his speech.”
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith no. 401; Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith no. 764]
