The Warning Against Unjustly Violating a Muslim’s Honor

Chapter: بَابُ التَّحْذِيرِ مِنَ الاسْتِطَالَةِ فِي عِرْضِ الْمُسْلِمِ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ

One Must Refrain from Unjustly Attacking a Muslim’s Honor and Dignity


Hadith ①:

«عن سعيد بن زيد، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: "إن من أربى الربا الاستطالة في عرض المسلم بغير حق".»

[Authentic: Narrated by Abu Dawood 4876, Ahmad 1651, and Al-Bazzar 1264]


Narrated by Sa‘id bin Zayd: The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"Indeed, one of the worst forms of usury is to transgress against a Muslim’s honor without just cause."


Hadith ②:

«عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: أربى الربا استطالة المرء في عرض أخيه المسلم.»

[Hasan: Narrated by Abu al-Qasim al-Asbahani in Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib 588]


Narrated by Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
"The gravest form of usury is when a person attacks the honor of his Muslim brother."
