Author: Dr. Muhammad Zia-ur-Rahman A‘zami (رحمه الله)

❖ Chapter:

«باب فضل من عاد مريضا»

❖ The One Who Visits a Sick Person Is in the Orchards of Paradise

✿ It is narrated from Thawbān, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“The one who visits a sick person remains in the orchard (khurfah) of Paradise until he returns.”

In another narration:

“Whoever visits a sick person continues plucking the fruits of Paradise (khurfah al-jannah) until he returns.”

The Companions asked:

“O Messenger of Allah, what is khurfah al-jannah?”
He replied:
“It is the fresh fruit of Paradise.”

[Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2568:3941, and also 2568:42 through another chain from Thawbān]

❖ The Prophet's Own Example in Visiting the Sick

Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim (رضي الله عنه) narrated:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Take us to the tribe of Banū Wāqif; we want to visit that blind man.”

Sufyān (the narrator) added:

Banū Wāqif was a tribe from the Anṣār, and the man they visited was blind.

[Ṣaḥīḥ: Al-Bazzār in Kashf al-Astār 1920; al-Ṭaḥāwī in Sharḥ Mushkil al-Āthār 4356]
