The True Muslim and Signs of Faith

A true Muslim is one whose tongue and hands do not harm other Muslims.

Narration by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (رضي الله عنه):

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe, and a Muhajir (migrant) is the one who abandons what Allah has prohibited.”

Narration by Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (رضي الله عنه):

It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, which Islam is the best?" He (ﷺ) replied:

“The one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe.”

Narration by Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنه):

Jabir reported that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) say:

“A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe.”

Narration by Anas (رضي الله عنه):

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“A believer is the one from whom people feel secure. A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe. A Muhajir is the one who abandons evil. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, no servant will enter Paradise whose neighbor is not safe from his harm.”

Narration by Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه):
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe. A believer is the one from whom people's lives and wealth are secure.”

Narration by Fadala ibn Ubaid (رضي الله عنه):
During the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Shall I inform you who a Muslim is? A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe. A believer is the one whose neighbors feel secure about their lives and wealth. A Muhajir is the one who abandons sins and mistakes. And a Mujahid is the one who strives against his own soul in obedience to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.”
