When the Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم), along with Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہم اجمعین), climbed Mount Uhud, it began to tremble (due to an earthquake). The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) struck the mountain with his foot and said, "Uhud, be firm, for upon you is a Prophet, a Siddiq (Truthful One), and two martyrs."
[Sahih al-Bukhari: 3686]
Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that a man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم). The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said, "Grant him entry and give him glad tidings of Paradise, although he will face a trial." I informed him (Sayyiduna Uthman رضي اللہ عنہ), and he praised Allah and said, "Allah is the helper."
[al-Bukhari: 3693 and Muslim: 28/2403]
In a famous hadith, the beloved Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) stated:
"And Uthman is in Paradise."
[Tirmidhi: 3747, and its chain is authentic]
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Samurah (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that when the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) was preparing for the expedition of hardship (Jaysh al-Usrah), Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ) brought a thousand dinars in his sleeve and placed them in the Prophet's (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) lap. The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) turned them over in his lap and said:
"Nothing will harm Uthman after what he does today."
[Ahmad 5/63, Hadith 20906 and Tirmidhi: 3701, graded as Hasan Ghareeb and its chain is Hasan]
Sayyiduna Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ) was unable to participate in the Battle of Badr due to the severe illness of his wife and the Prophet's (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) daughter, Ruqayyah (رضی اللہ عنہا). The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said:
"For you is the reward and share of someone who attended Badr."
[Sahih al-Bukhari: 3130]
Sayyida Ruqayyah (رضی اللہ عنہا) passed away during the Battle of Badr.

Abu Habibah (رحمہ اللہ) went to Sayyiduna Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ), who was under siege. He heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (رضی اللہ عنہ) saying that he heard the Messenger of Allah (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) say:
"After me, you will face trials and disputes." Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What should we do then?" The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) pointed towards Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ) and said: "Stick to the trustworthy one (the leader) and his companions."
[Musnad Ahmad 2/435, Al-Mawsu'ah Al-Hadithiyyah 14/219, 220, Hadith 8541, its chain is Hasan, authenticated by Al-Hakim 3/99, 4/433 and agreed upon by Al-Dhahabi]
Sayyiduna Murrah bin Ka’b (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrates that the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) mentioned the forthcoming tribulations. As a man wrapped in a cloth passed by, the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said:

[Sunan Tirmidhi: 3704, graded as Hasan Sahih and its chain is Sahih]
During the pledge of allegiance at Hudaybiyyah (Bay'at al-Ridwan), when the disbelievers of Mecca detained Sayyiduna Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ), the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) took the pledge on his behalf. The Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) said regarding his right hand:
"This is Uthman's hand." He then struck it on his left hand and said:
"This is on behalf of Uthman."
[Sahih al-Bukhari: 3699]
Abu Sahlah (رحمہ اللہ), the freed slave of Sayyiduna Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ), narrates that when Sayyiduna Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ) was asked during the siege why he did not fight (the rebels), he replied:

When Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib (رضی اللہ عنہما) was asked about Uthman (رضی اللہ عنہ), he said:
"This is Ameer-ul-Mu'mineen (Ali رضی اللہ عنہ) coming. He will tell you." Sayyiduna Ali (رضی اللہ عنہ) came and said: "Uthman is among those about whom Allah said: 'They believed, performed righteous deeds, then adopted piety and believed, and then adopted piety and excellence, and Allah loves the doers of good.'"
[Surah Al-Ma'idah: 93]
[Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 12/54, Hadith 32051, its chain is Sahih]

[Fada'il al-Sahaba by Imam Ahmad 1/452, Hadith 727, its chain is Hasan]
