Fatwa by: Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (حفظه الله)
Question:
Is it permissible for me to pray while experiencing the pain of childbirth (labor)?
Answer:
If a woman is free from menstruation (ḥayḍ) or postnatal bleeding (nifās), then she is obliged to pray. If she sees blood one or two days before giving birth, this blood is considered part of nifās, so she should not pray because of it. However, if no blood is seen, even if she is experiencing the pain of labor, she must still pray, just like a sick person who prays despite feeling ill. As long as her mind is sound, the obligation of prayer does not fall away.
And Allah knows best.
