Fatwa by: Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen (حفظه الله)
Question:
What is the ruling on delaying the ʿIshāʾ prayer to the last part of its time?
Answer:
It is better to delay the ʿIshāʾ prayer until its last part, but this ruling does not apply to men because delaying it may lead to missing the congregational prayer, and it is not permissible to abandon the congregation for the sake of delaying it.
For women at home, delaying it as much as possible is better for them. However, it should not be delayed beyond the middle of the night.
And Allah knows best.
