Fatwa by: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (May Allah preserve him)
Question:
What is the ruling regarding a woman’s feet and palms being uncovered (exposed) during prayer, noting that the woman is not in the presence of men but is praying at home?
Answer:
According to the well-known position of the Hanbali school of thought, a free and mature woman is required to cover herself entirely during prayer, except for her face. Based on this, it is not permissible for her to leave her hands and feet uncovered during Salah.
It is advisable for a woman to adhere to this precautionary measure and cover her hands and feet while praying. However, if a woman prays in such a manner and seeks a fatwa afterward, no one should dare to declare her prayer invalid or demand that she repeat it.
