Answer:

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The evil eye is true."

[Al-Sahifah al-Sahihah compiled by Hammam ibn Munabbih: 131, Sahih Bukhari: 5470, Sahih Muslim: 2187, 5701, Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq 18/11 Hadith 29778, Musnad Ahmad 2/319 Hadith 8245, and its chain is authentic. It also has another path in Ibn Majah: 3507 and its chain is authentic. It is also narrated by Ahmad 2/487]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The evil eye is true."

[Sahih Muslim: 2188, 5702]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Habis al-Tamimi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "And the evil eye is true."

[Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2061 and its chain is Hasan, Musnad Ahmad 4/67. Hayyah ibn Habis is truthful and was considered trustworthy by Ibn Hibban and Ibn Khuzaymah as appears in It-haf al-Maharah 4/97. Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated from him, and he only narrates from trustworthy individuals.]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidah Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: "O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja'far (Tayyar, may Allah be pleased with him) are affected by the evil eye. Should I perform Ruqyah for them?" He (peace be upon him) said: "Yes, and if there was anything that could precede destiny, it would be the evil eye."

[Al-Sunan al-Kubra 9/348 and its chain is authentic, Sunan al-Tirmidhi: 2059 and he said: “Hasan Sahih”. The Hadith also has an authentic witness in Sahih Muslim 2198 [5726]]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered her to perform Ruqyah for the evil eye.

[Sahih Bukhari: 5738, Sahih Muslim: 2195, 5720-5722]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) permitted performing Ruqyah for the evil eye.

[Sahih Muslim: 2196, 5724]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw a girl in her house whose face had a black spot. He said: "Perform Ruqyah for her, for she has been affected by the evil eye."

[Sahih Bukhari: 5739, Sahih Muslim: 2197, 5725]

❀ A summary of a Hadith narrated by Sayyidina Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted performing Ruqyah for the evil eye.

[See Sahih Muslim: 2198, 5726]

❀ Sayyidina Buraydah bin al-Husayb (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Ruqyah is only for the evil eye or poison.

[Sahih Muslim: 220, 527]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is no Ruqyah except for the evil eye or poison."

[Sunan Abi Dawood: 3884 and its chain is authentic. It is also narrated by Bukhari: 5705 as Mawqoof, and its chain is authentic. Both the elevated and non-elevated narrations are authentic, praise be to Allah.]

❀ Narrated by Sayyidina Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that his father, Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him), bathed, and Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at him and said: "I have never seen such beautiful skin, not even on a virgin." Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) became severely ill. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) found out, he said: "Why do you want to kill your brothers? Why didn't you seek blessings for him? Indeed, the evil eye is true."

[Muwatta Imam Malik 2/938 Hadith 1801 and its chain is authentic. It was authenticated by Ibn Hibban, Al-Mawarid: 1424]

↰ These narrations prove that the reality of the evil eye is established through multiple authentic Hadiths. The truth of the evil eye is also indirectly indicated in Surah Yusuf, Ayah 67.

Treatment:

↰ One treatment for the evil eye is to wash the person who cast the evil eye and then bathe the affected person with that water. See:

[Muwatta Imam Malik 2/938 Hadith 1810 and its chain is authentic]

Or recite the following supplication:

[أَعُوْذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللّٰهِ التَّآمَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَّهَامَّةٍ وَّمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَّامَّةٍ]

"I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous pest and from every evil, harmful eye."

[Sahih Bukhari: 3371]
