Imran bin Husayn (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) once asked his father, "O Husayn! How many gods do you worship these days?" His father replied, "I worship seven gods: six are on the earth and one is in the sky." The Prophet (PBUH) then asked, "Do you turn to any one of them for help or fear?" He answered, "I turn to the one who is in the sky." The Prophet (PBUH) responded, "O Husayn! Beware! If you accept Islam, I will teach you two supplications that will benefit you in both worlds."
The narrator mentions that when Husayn (RA) embraced Islam, he asked, "O Messenger of Allah, please teach me those two supplications you promised me." The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Recite this dua: 'O Allah! Guide me to remain steadfast and protect me from the evil of my soul.'"
It has been classified as weak by Sheikh Albani.
