The Prophet ﷺ: Preserver of the Entire Qur'an

❖ Was the Prophet ﷺ a Complete Ḥāfiẓ of the Qur’an?​

✿ Question:​

Was the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ a complete memorizer (ḥāfiẓ) of the Qur’an?

✿ Answer:​

Yes, the Prophet ﷺ was indeed a complete ḥāfiẓ of the Qur’an. Allah Himself took the responsibility of ensuring the Prophet ﷺ would retain and recite the entire revelation accurately.

When revelation was being sent down, the Prophet ﷺ would attempt to hastily memorize it out of concern that he might forget. But Allah reassured him that forgetting the revelation was not possible.

✿ Divine Assurance in the Qur’an:​

﴿إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ﴾
“Indeed, it is upon Us to collect it and to recite it.”
(Sūrat al-Qiyāmah: 75:17)

Conclusion:​

The memorization and preservation of the Qur’an by the Prophet ﷺ was divinely guaranteed. Therefore, it is established without doubt that he ﷺ had memorized the entire Qur’an during his lifetime, under the direct protection and assurance of Allah.
