❖ Mention in the Elegy of Ṣafiyyah bint ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib
In Ṭabaqāt Ibn Saʿd, the noble aunt of the Prophet ﷺ, Ṣafiyyah bint ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, composed a eulogy (marthiyah) upon his passing in which she referenced three significant descriptive names of the Prophet ﷺ:① المجتبیٰ (al-Mujtabā) – The Chosen One
② الرشید (al-Rashīd) – The Rightly Guided One
③ الناصح (al-Nāṣiḥ) – The Sincere Advisor
She says:
«على المرتضى للهدي ولتقى وللرشد والنور بعد الظلم»
"Upon the one who was chosen for guidance, piety, uprightness, and as a light after darkness."
«على الطاهر المرسل المجتبيٰ رسول تخيره ذو الكرم»
"Upon the pure, the messenger, the chosen one – a Prophet whom the Generous Lord Himself selected."
These lines highlight the Prophet’s ﷺ purity, divine selection, and his role as a guiding light and sincere advisor.
