The Preference of Expiation Fasting and the Six Days of Shawwal: Expiation Fasting First, Nafl Fasting Later:.
Question:.
A man is obligated to fast for two consecutive months as expiation, and he also wants to observe the six days of Shawwal. Is it permissible for him to fast these days?
Fatwa:.
It is obligatory to quickly observe the expiation fasts first. It is not permissible to fast the six days of Shawwal before the expiation fasts because these fasts are Nafl and the expiation fasts are obligatory, and they must be observed immediately. Therefore, it is necessary to observe them before the six days of Shawwal or any other Nafl fasts.
