The Number of Tasbīḥāt in Rukūʿ and Sujūd and the Sunnah Practice

Fatwa by: Shaykh Ibn Jibreen (حفظه الله)

Question:

What is the minimum and maximum number of tasbīḥāt to be recited in rukūʿ and sujūd?

Answer:
In rukūʿ, the tasbīḥ to be recited is:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ

And in sujūd:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى

The minimum recommended number is three times, while for an imam, it is up to ten times. However, saying it even once is sufficient.

It is also part of the Sunnah to praise Allah (ﷻ) after the tasbīḥ in rukūʿ and to make supplications after the tasbīḥ in sujūd.

And Allah knows best.
