Narration:
On the authority of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “It suffices for a group when they pass by that one of them greets, and it suffices for a group to respond if one of them replies.” [Narrated by Ahmad and al-Bayhaqi]

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When a group passes by, it is sufficient for one of them to say Salam, and it is sufficient for one of them to respond on behalf of the group.” [Ahmad, al-Bayhaqi]

Benefits:
- If one person from a group greets, the obligation is fulfilled for all; otherwise, all would be at fault. The same ruling applies to the response.
- It indicates that while it is sufficient for one person to greet, it is better if everyone greets. Similarly, if everyone responds, that is preferable.
