Fatwa by: Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen (حفظه الله)
Question:
I have heard of Salah al-Ḥājah and Salah for memorizing the Qur’an. Do these prayers have any basis in the Sharīʿah?
Answer:
Both of these prayers are invalid and have no basis in the Sharīʿah. Neither Salah al-Ḥājah nor Salah for memorizing the Qur’an exists in the religion. Establishing such acts of worship requires authentic proof from the Sharīʿah, which is absent in these cases. Therefore, these two prayers are not legislated.
And Allah knows best.
