Question:
I have three wives, and I am going on a trip for three months. It is necessary to take one wife with me, which one should I take, while all the wives are saying to go?
Answer:
It is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that when he (peace be upon him) intended to travel, he would draw lots among his wives, and whoever's name came out, he would take her as his companion. Following this Sunnah, you should draw lots among your three wives, and take the one whose name comes out with you on the trip.
❀ Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates:
كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا أراد سفرا أقرع بين نسائه فأيتهن خرج سهمها خرج بها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
"When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) intended to go on a journey, he would draw lots among his wives, and whoever's name came out, he would take her with him."
