The Islamic ruling on visiting Masjid an-Nabawi, Masjid al-Haram, and Masjid al-Aqsa

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh al-Islam Imam Ibn Taymiyyah's book Al-Jawab al-Bahir fi Zuwar al-Maqabir, translated by Sheikh Ataullah Saqib.

Distinguishing between Truth and Falsehood:

So, religion is obedience to the Messenger of Allah. Whatever he commands should be followed, and whatever he forbids should be abandoned. And love should be shown to those deeds and persons whom Allah and His Messenger love, and enmity should be shown to those whom they dislike. The Lord of Glory has endowed the Noble Messenger ﷺ with the Furqan (Quran). Therefore, you ﷺ have clearly distinguished between truth and falsehood. Now, it is not permissible for any person to combine those two things which the Messenger of Allah has differentiated.

So, whoever travels with the intention of visiting Masjid al-Haram, Masjid al-Aqsa, or Masjid an-Nabawi, and prays in Masjid an-Nabawi and Masjid Quba, and also visits the cemetery according to the Sunnah of the Prophet, then he has done a good deed. And whoever denies such a journey is a disbeliever; if he does not repent, he should be killed.
